March is National Nutrition Month®, an annual nutrition education initiative from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. For 46 years, Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist members (now more than 100,000, the largest professional nutrition organization in the world), have led the food and health conversation, sharing all the benefits eating well and being active can bring to your life. At its core, National Nutrition Month® is a time to celebrate and activate to capture the full bounty of food!

This year the campaign theme is simply that #NationalNutritionMonth recognizes the diversity of ways Americans approach food and eating, advocates for science to energize discussions and appetite for healthier lifestyles, and highlights the basics of better eating that can be part of every food occasion, including:

  1. Keeping food safety in mind at home and anywhere you eat.
  2. Eating more fruits and vegetables every day.
  3. Enjoying foods from all of the food groups that fit your healthier style of eating.
  4. Being active and moving every day.
  5. Being purposeful with portion control and limiting food waste.
